This study shows the results of an evaluation process conducted at a school of Bizkaia with 77 adolescents of first and third grade of Secondary Education. Questionnaires were used to assess levels of assertiveness, adaptation to family, school, peers and personal areas and indicators of anxiety and stress in order to identify those students with indicators of emotional distress and delimit the variables that best predict its onset. The results indicate that those adolescents with higher level of assertiveness showed better personal adjustment and lower levels of emotional distress.
